Being quarantined during the COVID19 pandemic has affected and even changed the way many of us dress. Being out of the office and out of the public eye has caused many of us to default to wearing our comfortable, ‘home’ clothes, like our sweatpants and sweatshirts. Others do the opposite, and get dressed as if they were going to a fashion show, on a date, or dancing with friends. Clothing can act as a safe space— something we wear to ensure that we feel protected, out of harm’s way. It can also act as a kind of superskin— making us feel powerful, even invincible. During unusual situations like this pandemic quarantine, many of us are using clothing as a tool to create safe spaces and superskins. What are you wearing during this COVID19 quarantine? Is it different from what you usually wear? How does it make you feel? Are you wearing something special to the Zoom dance party, or a work-appropriate top but sweatpants on the bottom for your work call? We’d like to not only gain some insight into how you are sartorially dealing with the quarantine and create a virtual QUARANTINE S/S20 collection of your looks. Send us your half-body and full-body shots of your quarantine outfits, and 1-2 sentences about why you’re wearing them.
